Group Health Insurance

COMSO offers employees comprehensive health insurance with a choice of three different PPO plans: High, Standard and Basic. Each plan provides both in-network and out-of-network coverage, and a set of office visit co-pays, annual deductibles, and co-insurance percentages relative to the level of insurance protection chosen by the employee. The plans provide a preventive care benefit for immunizations, gynecology and routine physicals paid at 100 percent, as well as a prescription drug card with set co-pays for preferred brand name drugs, non-preferred brand name drugs, and generic drugs.  The employee's share of the health insurance premiums is paid with pre-tax dollars.

Group Life and AD&D

COMSO employees receive life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to 1 times salary up to a maximum of $50,000. In addition, at low cost group insurance rates through payroll deduction, employees can choose to supplement the group life insurance offered by COMSO by purchasing additional group life insurance in increments of 1, 2, or 3 times salary up to a maximum of $250,000.

Group Dental Insurance

COMSO's group dental insurance plan covers twice-yearly preventive and diagnostic services at 100 percent (not subject to a deductible). Basic services (oral surgery, root canals, fillings, etc.) and major services (crowns, bridges, etc.) are covered at 80 percent and 50 percent respectively (subject to a $50 annual deductible).  The employee's share of the dental insurance premiums is paid with pre-tax dollars.

Short-Term Disability / Long-Term Disability

COMSO offers employees short-term disability (STD) insurance equal to 60 percent of income to a maximum of $1400 per week. The maximum benefit period is 13 weeks. The long-term disability (LTD) plan  picks up after the STD benefit period ends and pays 60 percent of income to a maximum of $6,000 per month (with a 3 percent cost-of-living adjustment on each anniversary during continuous disability).   When recieved, the disability income benefit is tax free and, if the disability persists, the disability income benefit will be paid until normal retirement and beyond in certain circumstances.

COMSO employees may elect to participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan through New England Financial (a Great-West company).  The plan offers a variety of investment opportunities ranging from guaranteed funds to mutual funds, including bond funds, aggressive growth funds, international funds, and asset allocation funds.  Employees are eligible to make voluntary payroll deductions to the 401(k) from their first day of employment.  COMSO provides an employer contribution, which features 100 percent immediate vesting, equal to 3 percent of the employee's salary.

At COMSO, vacation, sick leave, and holiday leave benefits are grouped together in a single program called Flexible Personal Leave, a unique benefit that allows employees to choose for themselves. For instance, COMSO does not schedule holidays; we leave it up to individual employees to decide which national or religious holidays they choose to observe. Employees can also use personal leave for doctor or dentist visits or for any personal time off. They can charge their leave accounts for short-term temporary illness or injury, to schedule vacation time, or to take time off in family emergencies. Flexible Personal Leave is used at the discretion of the employee for time off during normal scheduled work time. 

Flexible Personal Leave consists of 25 leave days per year for new employees, increasing over time.  Under the Flexible Personal Leave program, leave time is converted to dollars and deposited into the employee's leave account, which is debited to cover paid time off.  The flexibility of the leave account can also extend to requests for cash withdrawals for needed expenses.  The leave account is never "capped" and dollars in the leave account can accrue from year to year. 

At COMSO, we reward our dedicated employees with an extended sabbatical leave, separate from, and in addition to, the Flexible Personal Leave benefit.  Employees who have been with COMSO for five years are given a two-week, fully paid sabbatical (which they must take in a consecutive two-week increment some time between their fifth and sixth anniversaries).  With each subsequent five-year anniversary, the sabbatical is extended by one additional week.  COMSO is proud to report that numerous employees have been with the company long enough to take their three-week and even four-week sabbaticals!

COMSO encourages our employees to take time off for relaxation and renewal.  COMSO employees have used their sabbatical, combined with Flexible Personal Leave hours and leave account dollars, to enjoy trips across the country, explore destinations overseas, play golf, or just lie on  the beach for days on end.

At COMSO, we strive to help our employees keep technically current and promote their professional advancement. We meet this goal by reimbursing employees for course tuition fees and certification exam fees for manager-approved individual employee education and training initiatives.

An eligible COMSO employee who desires assistance in achieving a specific educational or competency goal must prepare a plan that describes the goal, the need for the completion of the goal, its benefit to both the employee and to COMSO, and how it will be achieved. When the plan is completed it is reviewed and subject to approval by management.  Our training program empowers our employees to choose the type of training that will best help them achieve their career goals, whether it be a formal or online course, books, software, or other vehicle for improving their skills.   The flexibility of our training program allows employees to select the best and most desired training for their professional growth.

In an effort to keep teamwork at the core of our basic corporate values, COMSO encourages employees to participate in building an effective, quality-oriented team by maintaining awareness of current job openings and recommending current employees or prospective candidates whom they feel would be an asset to the COMSO team. 

To promote the referral of potential employees by current staff, COMSO has instituted the Employee Referral Program to reward employees for successful referrals.  After a successful referral has been employed by COMSO for three months, the referring employee receives a cash reward of $1,000 ($3,000 for a referral with an active security clearance).   The referral program recognizes exceptional effort by employees; thus, COMSO not only allows but also encourages the referral of multiple candidates.
