Required Skills and Experience :

B.S. degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is desired with a minimum of at least 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting software architecture development, requirements analysis, and system integration (with both new and existing systems).

Responsibilities :

Provide hands-on system administration support as part of a team performing system maintenance and operations support of primarily Unix servers, to include services such as WEB, Netbackup Restores, DNS/DHCP, File, virus protection, application installation, and other like services
• Additional responsibility may include monitoring and initial troubleshooting of Windows based systems
• Team duties include performing the basic day-to-day 24/7 system administration tasks, scheduling new customer software releases, performing system upgrades, evaluating
and installing patches, and resolving software-related problems associated with COTS/GOTS products on Sun Solaris
• Provide general troubleshooting on the Client’s systems, maintain data files, and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity
• Perform file and database restores as required
• Ensure all server documentation is current
• Coordinate hardware maintenance and repairs with vendors
• Participate in SIT testing as required
• Interface with the architecture organization during the discrepancy reporting process

Required Skills and Experience :

 Minimum of 6 years of computer systems- or networking-related experience with thorough file server support and maintenance knowledge
• 2 years of client/server support and troubleshooting experience with minimum of 2 years of general Sun Solaris server administration experience
• Knowledge of the Sun Microsystems hardware infrastructure
• Understanding of internet support and security concepts
• Ability to interpret software and hardware documentation
• Understanding of LAN infrastructure protocols, e.g., DHCP, DNS
• Team-oriented with professional attitude and customer focus
• Thorough system administration (policies and procedures) knowledge with problem solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and writing skills and Excellent customer relations are a must
• Organizational skills to participate on projects and the drive to take ownership of them
• Knowledge of the Solaris Jumpstart process, NetApps, Linux, and/or VMWare is a plus
• In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Directory Services, File Services, Messaging Services, WEB Services, SOE/Engineering Services, and Solaris 10
Additional desired skills: NetApps hardware/software support, SAN hardware support, Veritas NetBackup support
• Thorough knowledge of Remedy ticketing system
• Ability to script in the Unix environment and modify scripts as necessary for automation and configuration management is a plus
• Basic knowledge of network administration and configuration and a working knowledge of Ethernet cabling and switching is a plus

Responsibilities :

Manage an organization's PC and backbone architecture.  Duties for this position include the installation, configuration and upgrade of network servers and network systems components (i.e. routers, hubs, and switches); diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with network components; performing preventative maintenance on network components; connecting and integrating servers and network components to both the local network and the Internet; setting up peripheral devices; tweaking settings, adding/upgrading hardware and software on servers and network components to improve their performance; and enabling peripherals on PCs.

 

 

 

Required Skills and Experience :

The position requires an A.A. degree and/or Certificate in Computer Technology or the equivalent and a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, with experience in installing and maintaining network-level servers and network components. 

The individual shall have a working knowledge of Microsoft servers and PC operating systems, with an emphasis on Server 2000/2003 and XP.

Quickly and effectively assist users via utilization of an in-depth knowledge of one or more applications and systems.  The duties of a Help Desk Support Analyst are comprised of:  answering questions, evaluating problems, and prioritizing incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.  The Help Desk Support Analyst shall provide answers to users' problems, provide feedback to users to lessen the occurrence of future problems, troubleshoot difficult or unusual situations, and suggest work flow improvements to the Government customer.

Either an AA degree or certificate in a computer related field and two years of experience, or five years of experience providing Tier 1 Information Technology Help Desk support.
