NBII Life: Library of Images From the Environment
7/15/2010. The United States Geological Survey Biological Informatics Office (BIO) has awarded COMSO the Biological Informatics Information & Geospatial Technology Support Services contract in support of the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) Program. The NBII Program was created in 1993 to examine critical national biological resource issues. The NBII Program Office and the USGS Center for Biological Informatics located in Denver, Colorado, are responsible for overall tool development, biodiversity data management policies and practices, technical leadership and representing the NBII on several International biodiversity technical initiatives.
Under this five-year contract, the COMSO Team will provide IT development, database design and development, portal technologies, geospatial technologies design and development, representation on international biodiversity initiatives, project management, and visual graphics and publications support to the BIO implementation of the NBII.

COMSO supported USGS on several predecessor contracts since 1995.
